Aventra partners with physicians, advanced practice providers, and medical groups to navigate operational complexity — and build organizations that last.
We work at the intersection of clinical operations and organizational strategy — where the real challenges for physician groups live.
Aventra was founded by a physician executive with direct experience leading large and small health systems, medical groups, and clinical operations. We don't arrive with generic frameworks — we bring pattern recognition earned across decades of real-world leadership.
Our advisory depth gives clients a partner who understands both the exam room and the boardroom.
Michael Green is a physician executive and healthcare strategist with more than two decades of clinical and operational leadership experience across some of the nation's largest and most complex health systems. As Founder and Principal of Aventra Medical Strategy, he brings a rare combination of frontline clinical expertise and sophisticated organizational strategy to every engagement.
Dr. Green serves as Senior Specialty Medical Director at Atrium Health, where he oversees clinical quality, personnel management, strategic development, and financial performance for Pulmonary, Allergy, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine across 19 hospitals and 36 clinics in North Carolina and Georgia — leading a team of more than 270 physicians and APPs with a budget exceeding $150 million. He has provided executive oversight for the organization's Virtual Critical Care program across 15 hospitals and played a central role in major integration efforts across Atrium Health's Wake Forest, Floyd, Navicent, and Advocate Aurora partnerships.
A pulmonologist and intensivist by training, Dr. Green completed his fellowship at The Ohio State University and holds an MBA from OSU's Fisher College of Business — a combination that gives him an uncommon ability to bridge clinical excellence and business strategy. He has served on the American Thoracic Society Board of Directors, chaired its Clinicians Advisory Committee, and presented nationally on physician compensation, contract negotiation, and critical care operations. His research has been published in JAMA Internal Medicine, Annals of the American Thoracic Society, and other leading journals.
Dr. Green founded Aventra to give physician groups, APPs, and medical organizations access to the kind of senior, experienced advisory counsel that has historically been available only inside large institutions — delivered with the personal attention and independence that only a boutique firm can provide.
Insight for clinical leaders.
Whether you're navigating a specific challenge or thinking through longer-range strategy, we'd welcome a conversation. No pitch — just a candid discussion about where you are and where you want to go.
